Trial Class @ Growing Up Gifted

Mummy & Nainai brought Ryan to suntec branch on Monday for a trial class.
1.00pm - 2.30pm (Gifted Babes 8mths - 18mths)

The class was rather interesting.  Teaches alphabets (flashcards format), numbers and they choose a particular letter to elaborate on it by giving various examples : moon, mouse, mirror, etc..

They teach grasp & exchange toys.  There is a mandrain portion that lasts 15mins.  The teachers gave the toddlers oranges and let them taste real orange juice with pulp.  Ryan seemed to love it.
Lastly, we proceeded to the music room for dance & songs.

No filming / phototaking was allowed.  1 parent - 1 child rule

I was in the room with Ryan while granny waited outside.  During the mandrain portion, we exchanged roles.  I waited outside while granny accompanied Ryan.

Throughout the class, Ryan was crawling all over the place, trying to chat up the babies/toddlers.  I gathered he only paid attention when the teachers took out toys.  Ryan was shouting quite often in class.  I think I'll not sign him up till about another 2 more months.  Ryan has yet to learn how to pay attention in class.  Or should I say, the teachers has failed to gather attention from most toddlers.  Mostly the parents are the ones who are participating.

Able to:
Imitates others' activities (yes! very copycat )
• Indicates wants with gestures (all the time)
• Takes a few steps (with encouragement)
• Says one word besides "mama" and "dada" (mostly "nehneh")
Walks alone (a few steps only)
Scribbles with a crayon (Nope. Most paper will end up in his mouth)
• Says two words besides "mama" and "dada" (nainai/nehneh)

He also learnt how to say no by gesturing.  Shaking his head or waving his hands.
He's not into waving goodbye or hello yet. (totally depending on his mood)
He does assisted (friend kiss). *We hold his hands and help him gesture*
He likes to clap nowadays, whenever he's happy.
Kinda tv addict. (My fault) Using too much tv as a nanny.
He has learnt how to manipulate us by tearing a drop here and there at appropriate timings.
Loves to climb, stepping on anything possible to get whatever he wants.
I am glad that he has learnt the right way to get off the sofa/bed.  At least he does not fall when I am not looking.
He loves books!  I am very happy.  *Gotta credit my good friend Sandra for reminding me to clutter his play area with board books*

Overall, I am happy with his growth and development.  Now that he is 1yo, my wish for him is to grow up healthy, strong and filial.  Everything else?  I will leave it in the hands of God.

Mummy is very happy today

Mummy & Nainai brought Ryan to Expo for the Robinsons Sale on thursday.
I was hoping to grab some work clothes, so we brought out the maclaren volo.
I am so glad that Ryan was sitting on the stroller 90% of the time.  First time ever.

From City Hall Station - Expo Station, from Expo Station back to Bouna Vista Station.
Throughout the shopping trip, he was majorly on the stroller other than sleep/eat moments.

I hope he remains this way.  So i can have some time-off for my back.

Next problem to tackle: Bottle Feeding.
Yeah, I have yet to solve this problem.  I know!  Procrastination...  Therefore, I thought of replacing his noon milk feeds with full meals instead.
Not too successful as he's rather picky with his food.  He may love porridge today and hate it tomorrow.  It is so difficult to feed a gourmet.

There are days where he totally rejects solids.  He can be on junk for the whole day!  Sigh...  Perhaps I can console myself by saying, "at least he's eating something other than milk".

Junk Food Menu
Bread
Rusks
Biscuits

Solids Menu
Porridge
Mee Sua
Cereal
Oats

Any other recipe I can copy?

The aftermax of IT Show

Ryan vomited twice. Once outside the auditorium on level 6, once outside bodynits shop @ Marina Sq.
Nai-Nai was carrying Ryan most of the time so that they do not go in the auditorium and squeeze with the crowd.
Not sure why he vomited though. Anyway, Ryan is well now. Hope he was just being overwhelmed by the crowd.

The other bad thing was, due to the 2nd vomiting session, Daddy was terribly upset that Mummy did not pack a spare outfit, he refused to let Mummy shop. Haiz, perhaps due to the rainy weather, everybody's mood was dull.

Worse thing was, we went to the IT Show not for our sake, but to get a laptop for Daddy's brother. Sigh.. Otherwise we'll be snuggling in bed instead of squeezing with thousands @ 11am in the morning.

Luckily we managed to grab some cheap memory cards & WII Fit. We also bought the much anticipated Raving Rabbits game.
Total $ Damage: $270.90

Jo - Kyzac's Birthday Party

Didn't take much photos as Ryan was mostly asleep during the party. So Daddy had to be camera man for the day. Turns out, Daddy is not a fantastic camera man. Haha... He took so little pictures.

Lazing @ Home

Nai-Nai was playing with Ryan before nap time. So Mummy took opportunity to take some nice smiley shots of Ryan.

Ryan's Actual Birthday

9th March 2009

NaiNai celebrated Ryan's birthday on the 9th March as she is off on that day.
She cooked chicken drumstick 'mian xian' for him to eat - 'Chang Shou'

We created our own items for Ryan to pick as we have no idea what is the actual sequence.
Tau Kwa - Be an Official
Egg - Roundness & Completeness
Orange - Fortune
Chicken Drumstick - Abundant of Food
Angpow - Abundant of Money *forgetful mummy, forgot to put it for him to pick*

He chose Egg, followed by Orange, then Drumstick. He did not even bother about the Tau Kwa! There goes my presidential mother dream... Keke

10th March 2009

Daddy, Waigong & Waipo took leave to spend the day with Ryan.
We went to Orient Ocean Restaurant @ Hotel Miramar to have buffet lunch. We decided to have it there since we held our wedding dinner there in 2007.

After that, we went to HuaXia TaiMaoBi located at KKH to finally settle on his birth hair scholar brush & umbilical cord seal. Total cost: $398.00

Then we proceeded to cold storage @ bugis for a quick walk before we went home.

Enjoyable but Tiring Days for Ryan.

Opps, almost forgot to credit Ryan on behalf of Daddy.. Cause Liverpool scored 4-0 in Champions League Match vs Real Mandrid. Made Daddy very happy. :)

Ryan's Birthday Suit

WaiPo bought this mickey romper @ Tangs during their closed door member's sale...

I also took some photos of Ryan trying to get out of the playyard. Notice his feet at each photo... Notice how he gets higher and higher as he struggles to get out of the yard on his own.

Ryan's Lunar Birthday

We can't celebrate Ryan's lunar birthday as it clashes with Raymond's granny's deceased date. So Nai-Nai told us not to do anything on that day.

Daddy & Mummy brought Ryan to expo for the babyfair afterwhich we went to vivocity for food @ Marche and some water fun @ Garden Park.

Ryan's First Birthday Party - 8th March 2008

Ryan's First Birthday Party @ home. Small Party

Ryan was so eager to eat his birthday cake that he swiped his feet across the cake... That explains the dent between the mickey's ears.

Opps! I forgot to take photo with my dear pal Kathy & John. Sorry gal... 4 of us too busy comparing brains of Mars vs Venus that we forgot to keep memories.. Hehe
The next time we meet for coffee, we'll take more photos. :)
